Bendigo Regional Genealogical Society

The website has a list of Family History links for Bendigo, Victoria, Australia and around the world.  For more than 30 years BRGS members have collected many records relating to Bendigo and district to assist family history researchers.  Most of these are available at the Goldfields Research Centre where volunteers are on duty for 4 hours each Friday.  There is a research service available.

Golden Dragon Museum Bendigo – Chinese Cultural Centre

The history of, and artefacts from Bendigo’s historic Chinese community.  There is research available by appointment and the museum is open every day from 9.30am-5pm (except Christmas Day).

The Bendigo Region Branch oversees the Alan Doney Photograph Collection plus 14 000 images dating from the 1950s to 1970s and the E. Graeme Robertson Cast Iron Collection, a large and significant reference collection of cast iron objects from verandah brackets to statues, stoves to a spiral staircase, and a magnificent French clock.

Camp Hill Historic Precinct is the home of Heathcote McIvor Historical Society and the Historic Lockup and Police Residence Museums. The collections include Birth Death and Marriage Indexes for the McIvor District as well as Maps, Family Histories and Photographs. The society offers a research service for the Heathcote McIvor district from the 1840s to the present day. The fees are $25 for an initial search.  Open to the public on Wednesdays from 10am-3pm and on weekends. Group tours are by arrangement, address 19 Herriot Street, Heathcote, 3523.

Catholic Diocese of Sandhurst - Archives

The collection includes Catholic Church records from 1851 to the present day. The Diocese has both an Archive and a large collection of objects. A research service is available. People can visit the Archives on Thursdays by appointment at 172-174 McCrae St, Bendigo. Open days and hours (Archives) Thursday and Friday 9am–5pm. 

Bendigo Health - Library

Eaglehawk Heritage Society

Huntly & Districts Historical Society

The organisation was formed to preserve the contents of the historic Council Chambers built 1867 and contains photographs, letters, maps, diaries, photographs of Councillors and history of the area. The original Court House (1874) contains original furniture and now houses an extensive display of the service personnel of the district, as well as Lodge relics.

Inglewood Historical Society

The Inglewood Historical Society has archival responsibility for some of Inglewood's local history. The majority of rates books of the Borough of Inglewood are preserved, as is the Borough Seal, microfilm of the Inglewood Advertiser newspaper covering the years 1861 to 1930, a collection of Society books, photographic collections and cemetery records. Research may be carried out on genealogical details, place history and event. Open by appointment with the Research Officer.  A research fee of $25.00 plus costs, applies.

Loddon Shire Historical Records

Loddon Shire Council has significant historical records in its custody.  These include rate books, council minutes, correspondence, maps, plans and photographs.  There are records from the three previous shires of East Loddon, Gordon and Korong.

Castlemaine Historical Society

The Society provides meetings (with interesting guest speakers), exhibitions, a monthly newsletter, guided tours, the development, cataloguing and maintenance of an historic archive collection, indexing of records and the provision of a research service.

Maldon Museum & Archives Association

The Maldon Museum and Archives curates historical information and artefacts from Maldon & District. The District includes Baringhup, Bradford, Gowar, Muckleford, Neereman, Nuggety, Pollard, Ravenswood South, Sandy Creek, Shelbourne, Tarrangower, Walmer, Woodbrook (Chinaman's Creek), Maldon, and parts of Eddington and Welshman's Reef. Also, from 1947 to 1956, there was a construction settlement for Cairn Curran Reservoir at Baringhup.

There is information on the Museum, Maldon's archival material and links to Maldon's family and local historical research resources.  There is access to publications and a collation of historic information on the Maldon District.

Echuca/Moama Family History Group

A Genealogy Society and Research Library with a comprehensive library of books, CD's & microfiche computers. There are numerous Indexes, collections of records e.g. school admissions and hospital admissions, a microfilmed copy of the 'Riverine Herald', an indexed collection of personal notices from the 'Riverine Herald', comprehensive local family information and a Newsletter exchange with 80 other groups.  There is a research service for locals' and international researchers covering Echuca/Moama and disticts - In Victoria: Ballendella, Bamawm, Barmah, Echuca, Echuca Village, Kanyapella, Kotta, Koyuga, Lockington, McEvoys, Millewa, Nanneella, Patho, Piavella, Pine Grove, Restdown, Rochester, Roslynmede, Strathallan, Tennyson, Tongala, Torrumbarry and Wyuna. In NSW: Bunnaloo, Caldwell, Mathoura, Moama, Thyra and Womboota. 

Open hours Mondays 11am-3pm, every Friday of each month 11am-3pm.  Contact person Pearl Collins (03) 5482 1139 for access at other times.  Non-members are welcome and are asked to make a small donation for access to the Research Room and Research Library. 

Swan Hill Genealogy & History Society

Volunteers are available each Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-3pm to assist researchers.
