There are two ways to order records from the Bendigo Regional Archives Centre (BRAC).
1. Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) Online Catalogue Orders OR
2. Direct Orders through BRAC
Most of the BRAC Public Records are overseen by the Public Record Office Victoria (PROV). These are listed online as part of the PROV Online Catalogue. These records held by BRAC must be ordered through this catalogue.
Click on BRAC Guide 2 for a step by step guide to ordering your records via the PROV Online Catalogue.
You will need to know what records you want to order. All PROV records are numbered. You will need to find out what the Victorian Public Record Series (VPRS) number is. See BRAC Guide 4 for a list of BRAC records, as well as the accompanying VPRS number to use when ordering.
You can go to the PROV website and do a range of searches for records in the PROV Access the Collection section.
BRAC Guide 5 has steps to register as a PROV user and generate your ID so that you can order online. You will need to have your PROV user ID to use the PROV online catalogue.
Direct Orders through BRAC
A small number of public records at BRAC are not yet listed on the PROV online catalogue. These must be ordered in person through BRAC. Speak to BRAC staff to find out about these records and how to order them.
You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or you can call on Wednesdays and Thursdays when the Centre is open on (03) 54492700.
